Three finishes, one fitting, about fifteen minutes to install
A hand bidet is the simplest way to wash rather than wipe. It is a sprayer on a flexible hose that hangs beside the toilet, and it runs from the cold water already feeding your cistern.
You will see it called a lot of things: hand held bidet, bidet sprayer, shattaf, muslim shower, health faucet, bum gun. They all describe the same fitting.
What we sell
- Stainless steel, with a 304 stainless nozzle, a braided steel hose and a brass T-valve.
- Gold, the same fitting with a gold finish and a longer hose, for a bathroom with gold or brushed brass taps.
- Black, finished black including the valve, which many cheaper black kits leave bright chrome.
Each is a kit: sprayer head, wall holder, T-valve and hose. All three are also sold in 3 and 5 packs for fitting out more than one bathroom.
Fitting one
Close the isolator under the cistern. Unscrew the flexible supply where it meets the cistern inlet, put the T-valve in its place, then reconnect the supply on top and the sprayer hose to the side. Open the isolator and check for weeps.
The bracket either screws to the wall or hooks over the cistern, which is what most people do in a rented flat because it leaves no mark.
Things worth knowing before you buy
The water is cold. It comes from the cold feed that fills your cistern, because that is the only water at a toilet. If you want warm water you need a powered bidet seat and a socket.
You need to be able to reach the supply line and the isolator. A concealed cistern is the one case where a hand bidet is awkward, so look behind the panel first.
These are washing fittings. They rinse with clean water, and that is the whole of what they do. We make no medical claims for them.
